It’s hard to capture the grandeur of Mount Aenos in words! This majestic mountain is a remarkable natural sanctuary, home to the unique black firs of Kefalonia (abies cephalonica). Known as the “Montenegro of Greece,” Aenos owes its name to the dark hue of the trees, which appear black from a distance. 

Within this stunning National Park, you’ll discover a rich array of flora and fauna, including reptiles and birds like hawks, woodpeckers, and blackbirds. One of the park’s most notable residents is the Aenos wild horse, a small yet robust breed belonging to the Pindos lineage, sadly nearing extinction.
